Summer is the prime season for huge blockbuster films. Studios save the films they believe will achieve the most popularity for the months when kids are out of school and looking for something to do. The following is my list of most anticipated films this summer.

Terminator Salvation
"Terminator" stars Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin and Helena Bonham Carter. Directed by McG ("Charlie's Angels"), Salvation follows franchise hero John Connor as he assumes the role of Resistance leader. Although McG has a history of action-with-no-plot films, Bale and Bonham Carter bring dramatic experience to the film, and the young Anton Yelchin has yet to disappoint. The most exciting part? Arnold is in the film; his face has been created using CGI technology and placed on a body double.

Up
Pixar can do no wrong. That's all the explanation you should need to go see "Up," premiering May 29. The film is about an aging balloon salesman who uses balloons to fly his house to South America, accidentally taking a young Scout with him. The film is directed by Pete Docter who directed Monsters Inc. Oh, and if the word Pixar isn't enough to sway you, this will. It's a Pixar movie in 3-D.

Public Enemies
I can't explain how excited I am for this movie. Set to hit theaters July 1, the film follows Christian Bale as an FBI agent pursuing John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. Johnny Depp portrays the infamous John Dillinger. He is supported by an all-star cast that includes Giovanni Ribisi, Billy Crudup and Stephen Graham. Director Michael Mann has done a fantastic job with his previous crime movies; the only real question is whether or not Channing Tatum, who plays Pretty Boy Floyd, can actually act.

Funny People
In my opinion Judd Apatow is like Pixar: he can do no wrong. Apatow directs Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen in his third directorial outing, due out on July 31. The film will center on Adam Sandler, a dying stand-up comedian, and his growing friendship with an unsure new stand-up comic whom he meets. The Apatow-Rogen combination has yet to fail, and hopefully the addition of Sandler will only make it better.

The Boat That Rocked
Already released internationally, "The Boat That Rocked" won't come out in America until Aug. 28. Directed by Richard Curtis, who is known mainly for romantic comedies, the movie is about a group of DJs who broadcast rock radio illegally into Britain during a time when only the BBC had a license. Featuring a cast a mile long, led by the amazing Philip Seymour Hoffman, the film promises to be a funny look at "radio pirates".

A few other notables include:

Away We Go - Directed by the amazing, award-winning Sam Mendes, and featuring John Krasinski, this dramatic comedy appears both funny and touching. June 5.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - The sequel to "Transformers" will definitely feature lots of robots, slow motion sequences and explosions and probably only a mid-level plot. June 24.

Bruno - Sacha Baron Cohen creates a new persona for himself and then engages unsuspecting civilians in ridiculous and presumably crude situations. July 10.
