The Samford dance team will introduce the new theme, "Step Up with the Samford Dance Ensemble," of their annual show this week. In this performance, the audience will see that one thing is clear about the dance ensemble: the dancers are not all the same. Each member of the team brings her unique style and background to mix with the rest of the team.
Business students who are taking the Bulldog Investment Fund Practicum course in the spring will receive $500,000 of real money to invest in the stock market. The money for the class was partly given by an anonymous donation and was also pulled from Samford's endowment.
Amanda Tapley was crowned as the 2007 Miss Samford last Friday night. The sophomore piano performance major was awarded best talent. She will represent Samford in the Miss Alabama Pageant with her platform "Music for a Cure" in June.
Samford hosted an event this past Wednesday for sociology professor Hugh Floyd's new film, "Lives of Courage, Voices of Hope." Those who attended witnessed the first showing of the documentary that featured the stories of five women who played important roles during Alabama's civil rights struggle.
A musical benefit concert for social justice, called 'Justice Under the Lights,' will be held on the Quad this Thursday, Nov. 15. The concert will raise funds for Samford's social justice organizations to further their causes and raise awareness among the student population about social injustices suffered by people both locally and around the world.
